Picture the scene: It’s Friday. You’ve just returned home after a long week at work. It’s already dark outside and the evening is bitter cold. All you want to do now is to relax. You run yourself a nice, hot bubble bath and slowly immerge yourself in this newfound heaven of warmth. After lying there for a few minutes you may find that your head isn’t as supported as you like, or that it’s getting a bit sore resting against the hard bathtub or the tiles on the wall. What you need here is a bath pillow.
You may first be wondering to yourself what exactly bath pillows are. For those that haven’t worked it out already (the clue is in the name!) they’re basically just pillows that you can use in the bath for supporting your head (or whatever you like). They’re made to be waterproof, or at least not to be ruined if they get wet.
Note that there are many different types of bath pillows. You’ve got the foam bath pillow, the inflatable bath pillow, the high-end spa bath pillow and many more. The difference between them is actually quite large. Although they all essentially do the same job, some of them do it in different ways. Which one you choose should come down to your personal preference, however, in terms of how it looks and how it feels against your head (since comfort is the most important thing here).
Not only do bath pillows come in all different types of material (i.e. sponge and plastic), but they also come in different shapes and sizes. Some shapes are made more for novelty (i.e. you can get animal shaped pillows) and some are made to give the upmost comfort and support to your neck and head.
My personal favourite kind are the inflatable bath pillows. I have a Japanese soaking tub at my house, so I like to use it there, but the fact that it’s inflatable means that it can be let down and shrunk to a very tiny size (meaning I can take it away with me on holiday or for business trips). I also like the continued support that they give you, whilst not being too rigid. I’ve also found that my kids seem to love playing with my bath pillows when they’re in the tub, although they seem to use it more as a toy than as something to rest your head on!
