Most people dream of having a bigger bathroom. If you have a bathtub, one of the main problems is lack of elbowroom while showering. No one enjoys feeling the shower liner sticking to their elbows while lathering up or trying to dry off. One way to accomplish gaining more space in the shower without hiring an expensive contractor to knock out walls and close off your bathroom for a month is to switch your old straight shower rods for very affordable and easily installed curved shower curtain rods (also sometimes referred to as circular shower curtain rods). These were first only found in high-end resorts and hotels, but now they can be purchased in most bath or home improvement stores.
Many are calling curved shower curtain rods one of the best bathroom inventions ever. They almost instantly improve your bathroom, even making it look more luxurious adding between 25 to 35 percent more space in the shower without taking away floor space, making the showering experience more enjoyable and inviting. They help avoid “blow-in” from the curtains and seal better preventing leaking. There is absolutely no construction cost if the owner can use a screwdriver so you basically get a new, beautiful bathroom for the cost of an old-fashioned straight rod, usually averaging not much more than $30. They come in various lengths, averaging from five to seven feet, and in an assortment of long lasting, rust proof finishes such as brushed metal and chrome that will last a lifetime. Normally, the rods curve outward approximately six inches at the center and then curve inward, three inches at the edges, which is how the additional space is added. Often, a new shower curtain is not even necessary if the current one is long enough, if it is not; an extra long curtain can be easily obtained.
If you have a smaller bathroom or a corner type tub, you may want to consider using an L shaped shower rod. These are similar to the curved curtain rods except for the fact that they are formed by two straight sections that are connected by a 90 degree corner therefore starting out from a side wall, making an L shape curve to attach to the back wall. They need a hanging support from the ceiling that attaches at the curve to help hold it in place. Because of the ceiling support attachment, the curtain rod rings cannot be used in the usual manner so the rod uses a track that has carriers enclosed inside the rod. These carriers are what the rod rings are hooked on to. This type of rod can use a regular shower curtain, but depending on the size, two shower curtains may be required to adequately cover the area.
There is no reason now to keep that cramped shower space you have been putting up with. Add luxury and spaciousness to your bathroom without maxing out your credit cards. You will think that you have moved in to a ritzy resort. Just think of that new curved shower rod as getting a new vacation home without the drive.
