One of the more recent inventions in the bathroom furniture and supplies industry is that of hookless shower curtains. What are they? I hear you ask. Basically, hookless shower curtains are (as the name suggests) without any hooks. The benefits of them is that they can be easily installed into any bathroom and they are usually cheaper than your average shower curtains since you don’t have to pay for any additional hooks that they require as a necessity.
The benefit to hookless shower curtains is that they don’t require any maintenance, they are a lot stronger and they can be hung almost anywhere without ever having to worry about them breaking or bending. A typical model will be made of metal and will usually be a hollow chrome looking pole. This modern look can give your bathroom a great look that can bring it bang up to date with the 21st century styles that you’ll often see today in many kitchen and bathroom stores such as Bed Bath and Beyond. They really do have a fabulously elegant look that gives of a sense of class that you’d be hard pressed to find with another sort of curtain rail.
The key to them is in their simplicity, and that is also the key to their beauty and elegance. Because the modern world is all based on minimalism and on simplifying everything, this type of curtain rod is the epitomy of that. Despite being hookless you still need to have holes in your actual shower curtain. However, you can’t just cut holes in it as it will rip and won’t hold up for very long, as well as looking extremely scruffy. Instead you need metal hoops in there that will go over the shower curtain pole. This ring is essential for the support and for reinforcing the curtain as without it you’d just have a useless piece of vinyl.
The way that you must weave you hookless shower curtains is by using the concertina method. This is one of them things that is difficult to explain buy simple and easy when you see it in action. Basically you’ll have a series of holes in your curtain, and you must thread each one through the pole, snaking the curtain from left to right and back again as you do so. Think of how you weave to make denim or wicker and you’re onto the right track (no pun intended).
Hookless shower curtains can come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, colours and patterns. That is really the beauty of them – that you can have whatever type and make that you want, and that you can design it to fit in with the style of your bathroom. Many people tend to favour the brighter colours these days (although how long this trend will last nobody knows) and they certainly do look nice when painted onto a hookless shower curtains and hung delicately in your bathroom. Part of the reason for this is that they draw the attention to them and away from some of the more unsavoury things that you might in there – especially if you’ve left it untidy.
